Hess Collection Earns Best of Tourism Award
October 6, 2011 No CommentsThe Hess Collection has earned a Best of Wine Tourism regional award from the Great Wine Capitals Global Network, and will advance for consideration in the international award to be announced in Mainz | Rheinhessen, Germany later this month.
Hess was selected as the Art & Culture choice “because of its continued success and leadership in connecting the worlds of wine and art in a unique combination that allows guests an experience that touches the senses in many ways”, according to the award citation. Additional awards were presented in categories for accommodations, restaurants, architecture & landscape, innovative wine tourism experiences, wine tourism services and sustainable wine tourism practices.
San Francisco and Napa Valley are jointly recognized as one of the Great Wine Capitals, joining eight other internationally renowned wine regions, including Bordeaux, France; Cape Town, South Africa; Christchurch-South Island, New Zealand; Florence, Italy; Mainz-Rheinhessen, Germany; Mendoza,Argentina; Porto, Portugal; and Bilbao-Rioja, Spain.
The annual Best of Tourism awards serves as an industry benchmark for excellence, and recognizes leading wineries and wine-tourism related businesses distinguishing themselves with innovation, service and sustainable practices.
In selecting Hess, the judges noted “With a combination of perception, passion and insightfulness, Donald Hess personally selects works of international contemporary art, creating a collection that is both thought provoking and inspirational…representing an extraordinary and ever-expanding, in-depth look at over 60 artists, acknowledged as one of the largest collections of its kind.”
